EPDM is a flat roofing material made from a specially formulated synthetic rubber. EPDM rubber was developed for situations where a material needs to remain flexible despite prolonged exposure to sunlight, ozone, heat and changing weather conditions. This made it particularly well suited to roofing.

It is usually installed in large sheets, reducing the number of seams and joints where leaks can develop. A properly installed EPDM roof can remain flexible and weather-resistant for several decades.
